Boat Registration Procedure

NEW BOATS


1.
The Owner or Builder applies to 14 SECRETARIAT for a Sail Number and encloses the fee of £100.00

2.
14 SECRETARIAT will send the applicant for each Sail Number applied for the following documents:

i.    Sail Number Allocation
ii.    Measurement Form (green)
iii.    Measurement Certificate (white)
iv.    List of International 14 Class Measurers
v.    Addressed envelope for return of forms
vi.    Association Membership Form & Direct Debit Mandate

3.
On receipt of the above pack the Owner should arrange for the boat to be measured.  The Measurer will complete the Measurement Form and fill in the relevant parts of the Measurement Certificate.The completed Membership, Measurement Form, Certificate and direct debit mandate should be returned by the Owner to 14 SECRETARIAT in the envelope provided.

4.
14 SECRETARIAT will authenticate the Measurement Certificate and return it to the Owner together with a copy of the Measurement Form.  The original Measurement Form (pink) will be kept by 14 SECRETARIAT.

CHANGE OF OWNER


1.
The new Owner should send the existing Measurement Certificate to 14 SECRETARIAT together with a fee of £15.00. Payment can be made by cheque (made payable to International 14 Association) or by credit card, via PayPal (please email the Secretariat for instructions).

2.
On receipt of the certificate and funds, the 14 SECRETARIAT will register the boat in the new Owner’s name, change the name of the Owner on the Measurement Certificate and authenticate the change.  If necessary a replacement Certificate will be issued but the original Certificate will also be returned to the Owner.


LOST OR MISSING MEASUREMENT CERTIFICATES


1.
If available an authenticated copy of the Measurement Form should be sent to 14 SECRETARIAT together with a fee of £15.00.  14 SECRETARIAT will then issue a replacement Measurement Certificate.

2.
If the boat was first registered after 1 June 1992, 14 SECRETARIAT will hold the necessary information to enable a replacement Measurement Certificate to be issued for a fee of £15.00

3.  14 SECRETARIAT have the records previously held by the RYA for boats registered before 1 June 1992 but these do not cover all boats.  If the records are held a replacement Certificate can be issued for a fee of £15.00
